Reading the canary…

Lifeboat

Your wallet signs with Ed25519, which a large quantum computer can break. A Lifeboat key is hash-based (LM-OTS), made in this browser, and only its fingerprint goes on-chain. After Q-day, recovery uses the last snapshot before the canary tripped and this key, not your wallet.

Your key, as it is built

0 / 26 hash chains · 255 steps each

Each row is one Winternitz chain: a secret hashed 255 times. The end of every chain feeds the public key.

  1. Make the key

Random secret, 26 hash chains, all in this tab.

  2. Save it offline

Lose the file and the Lifeboat is useless. Leak it and anyone can claim your recovery.

  3. Board

Registers the fingerprint. Boarding again replaces the old one.
